NORTH MANKATO, MINNESOTA — Tyson Goodsell, a 17-year-old described by his father as a hardworking young man who “was becoming a man and died for his respect,” has passed away following a shooting on May 23, 2026..
The North Mankato Police Department confirmed in a May 24, 2026 press release that officers responded at approximately 11:03 p.m. on Saturday night to reports of gunshots near Pleasant View Drive and Willow Lane. Shortly afterward, officers discovered a passenger vehicle that had crashed into a townhome on Willow Trail.
Inside the vehicle, officers located a 17-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Authorities immediately began lifesaving efforts before the victim was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System–Mankato, where he was later pronounced deceased.
While police initially withheld the victim’s identity pending family notification, social media tributes shared by loved ones identified the teenager as Tyson Goodsell.
